Car Parks in Brighton and Hove

As a city, Brighton and Hove strives to offer a variety of parking facilities throughout the city, for residents, workers, and visitors to the area. Facilities can range from on-street and surface, to multi-storey car parking, and private run facilities. There is also a Park and Ride service that operates from Withdean Sports Complex.

On-street and Surface Parking in the city is operated by Brighton and Hove City Council. There are on-street car parking facilities available from 9pm-6pm 7 days a week at Kingsway, Kings Road, Madeira Drive, and Marine Parade, which can cost from £1.20 for an hour, to £10.00 for 9 hours. There’s also good value surface car parking facilities available throughout the city. These car parks are located at King Alfred, Rottingdean Marine, Rottingdean West Street, Haddington Street, Carlton Hill, and Oxford Court. Current prices here can range from 50p for half an hour to £2.50 for 4 hours or more. Both these parking options are pay and display.

Multistorey car parks are also big in Brighton and Hove, with six in convenient locations around the area. Labelled as pay on foot car parks, visitors will  find these at Trafalgar Street, Regency Square, High Street, The Lanes, Norton Road, and London Road. Some of these car parks offer parking (with height restrictions) for 1 to 24 hours, with money saving annual tickets available for regular users/commuters, while others have a pricing structure in place during the day, and are free to use during evening hours (8pm-8am).

Alongside the Council, the other main car park operator in Brighton and Hove is national company NCP, which has been running in the UK since 1931. They own/run car parks in Church Street, Churchill Square, North Road, and Russell Road.

One final option for car parking in the city is privately owned car parking spaces, which individuals can rent out on a short or long term basis using websites like ‘Park At My House’.

Visitors or commuters arriving in the Brighton and Hove area from further afield, also have the option of using the park and ride located at Withdean Sports Complex. This isn’t available on a 24 hour basis, but the service is linked with the city’s Number 27 Bus Service, which stops off at a larger number of places than a standard park and ride service. The other benefit of this service is that your bus ticket is also valid on other bus routes in the area, on an unlimited basis, on the day you travel. In addition to this ‘City Saver’ ticket, there are also special rates for children, and those buying ‘Saver Tickets’ on a longer term basis.

All this should ensure that there is a parking space available at the right price, right time, and in the right location to suit everybody’s needs. Researching prices, locations, and time restrictions before you travel, will ensure that parking in Brighton and Hove is a hassle free experience.
